IKEA in contract for wind energy

Apex Clean Energy has signed a multiyear contract with IKEA to operate the 46MW Oldman 2 wind farm in Alberta.

The project, which is located near Pincher Creek, is the fourth that Apex is managing for IKEA in North America.

It consists of 20 Siemens 2.3MW turbines. Apex will provide both remote asset management and on-site facility management for Oldman 2.

Apex Clean Energy president and chief executive Mark Goodwin said: “Sustainability-focused companies, like IKEA, are to thank for propelling the wind industry forward and accelerating the shift to clean energy.”

Apex already operates and manages for IKEA the 165MW Cameron wind farm in Texas, the 98MW Hoopeston project in Illinois and the 88MW Wintering Hills facility in Alberta.
