Wind power: Senvion already installed 6,000 wind turbines

Senvion connected its 6,000th wind turbine to the public power grid. Eight Senvion 3.0M122 turbines, designed to produce the highest possible yields at low-wind sites, have been running since May 2015 at the Hollich community wind farm in Burgsteinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Since its inception, the company has installed turbines with a total rated power of over 12,000 megawatts worldwide, together supplying over seven million households with electricity – the equivalent of covering the total demand of all private households in Schleswig-Holstein, Austria and Denmark.

Andreas Nauen, CEO of Senvion SE, says:
“With 6,000 wind turbines, we are already making a significant contribution to achieving a successful energy revolution worldwide. We take our job of establishing wind power as a reliable and sustainable energy source of the future seriously. That is why we heavily invest every year in the development and refinement of new and existing products in order to keep driving continuous progress towards expanding the use of wind energy by setting technological benchmarks.”

With its product portfolio and international positioning, Senvion offers tailor-made solutions for every site, whether on land or at sea. Setting international standards with first-class German technology is the goal of the team of more than 3,500 employees in 14 countries, all of whom are working towards a green future for energy.

Senvion is a powerful driving force behind wind energy on the domestic market. In 2014, the company installed 265 wind turbines with a rated power of almost 1,000 megawatts. “Germany is our most important market,” says Kai Froböse, Managing Director of Senvion Deutschland GmbH. “In 2015, we will continue to put our expertise and experience to good use in the onshore and offshore sectors.”

Senvion SE was established in 2001 as REpower Systems AG as a result of the merger of Jacobs Energie, BWU and pro+pro Energiesysteme and has since grown to become one of the biggest manufacturers of wind energy turbines in the world. With its 25 years of experience, Senvion is a pioneer in the production of wind turbines.
