Enercon installs wind farm on the Faroe islands with 13 E-44 wind turbines

Enercon has completed the installation of the 11.7 MW Húsahagi wind farm on the Faroe islands for local utility Elfelagid SEV.
The wind farm near Torshavn on the island of Streymoy consists of 13 of Enercon’s 900 kilowatt E-44 wind turbines for strong winds.
Enercon had already built the Neshagi wind farm with five of the E-44 wind turbines.

With the new wind park, Elfelagid now provides 60% of the Faroer island’s electricity from wind and hydro, a share it wants to boos to 100%.

The islands currently still generate part of its energy from expensive and polluting oil-fired power plants.

Enercon also said that it has entered the French market with its 2.3 MW E-92 wind turbine for the first time, installing three of the wind turbines at the Longueville II wind farm in the Aube département in the Chamapgne-Ardenne region.
