Wind farm developer to delay project due to PTC uncertainty

An Illinois wind power developer has delayed construction of a 175 MW, $300 million wind energy project in Logan County, Ill. by at least two years, according to Platts.

American Wind Energy Management originally expected its Sugar Creek Wind farm to glean tax credits from the Production Tax Credit, which is set to expire at the end of December. With the possibility that the credit will not be renewed, it didn’t make sense to build the project in 2013, said Stan Komperda, head of project development.
