Vietnamese Quang Tri Province Approves Wind Power Projects

The Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Central Vietnamese province of Quang Tri, Vo Van Hung, signed the approval today to invest in three wind power projects with a total capital of almost 251 million dollars.

Those wind power plants include Phong Nguyen, Phong Huy and Lien Lap, which comprise 12 wind turbines with a capacity of 48 Megawatts (MW) and an operating period of 50 years each.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce also approved the planning of 31 wind projects in the town with a total capacity of more than 1,177 MW; of which 22 plans are expected to generate commercial electricity in 2021, while the remainder are under construction.

In addition, Quang Tri has dozens of other wind energy projects under investigation, with a total capacity of more than 3,600 MW.

In this sense, attracting investment in the energy sector in general and wind energy in particular is one of the priorities of the province.
