Siemens Gamesa debuts in Pakistan with 25 G114-2.0 MW wind turbines

Siemens Gamesa has achieved a new milestone in its Asian strategy with its maiden order in Pakistan. The company, in consortium with Sumec Hardware and Tools, has secured an order from the independent power producer Zephyr Power for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of a 50 MW wind farm in Gharo, in the district of Thatta.

The scope of Siemens Gamesa is the supply of 25 of its G114-2.0 MW, including environmental kits designed to maximize performance in high dust and high temperatures sites.

Installation of the turbines at the Zephyr Power wind farm project is scheduled to begin towards the end of 2017 with the project slated for commissioning in August 2018.

Indeed, this range of turbines has become a benchmark in the wind sector due to its availability and capacity factor, noteworthy flexibility and low power density.

Besides this maiden order in Pakistan, Siemens Gamesa’s Asian footprint also extends to Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, China and India, having installed over 10 GW in these markets.

Siemens Gamesa is a leading provider of wind power products and solutions to customers around the globe. The company has installed products and technology in more than 90 countries, with a total installed base of close to 80GW and more than 25,000 employees. Siemens Gamesa offers one of the industry’s broadest product portfolios, with both offshore and onshore technology as well as industry-leading service solutions, helping to make clean energy more affordable and reliable. The united company was created in 2017. Previously, Siemens Wind Power’s history in the wind industry extends back to the early 1980s, and Gamesa’s to 1994.
