Iberdrola to develop 220 MW wind farm in Mexico

Anheuser-Busch InBev has committed to securing 100 percent of the purchased electricity used in its brewing operations from renewable sources by 2025.

The brewery, which announced the commitment Tuesday, said the move will reduce its operational carbon footprint by 30 percent.

Iberdrola will develop a 220-MW wind farm to help meet the energy needs of Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo.

The companies signed a 15-year contract for the supply of renewable energy.

Located in Puebla state, the 84-turbine wind farm will require a total investment of USD 300 million. Covering an area of 100 ha should be able to generate approximately 490 GWh per year. It is scheduled to be up and running by 2019.
