The low selling prices that the government set for wind power cannot encourage the investment in the renewable power sector.

Ninh Thun approves $74m wind power plant in Vietnam

The central province of Ninh Thun has approved a new wind power project in Thun Nam District’s Phc Minh Commune.

The 712 hectare Phc Minh Wind Power Plant will have 23 turbines with a combined capacity of 48.3 MW and cost VN?1.66 trillion (US$74.7 million).

But the project has not yet been listed in the Ninh Thu?n Wind Power Development Plan for 2011-20 approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Under the plan, the provincial targets to develop 12 wind power projects with a total capacity of 200 MW.

The province People’s Committee has sought approval from the ministry to incorporate the project into the plan so that it can be developed soon.
