Wind energy in Macedonia: 36.8 MW Bogdanci wind farm with 16 Siemens wind turbines

ELEM said that the 36.8 MW Bogdanci wind farm, the first wind power plant in the country, started operations after it successfully passed trials.

The wind farm is expected to generate over 100 GWh a year, enough to meet the needs of some 60,000 people.

The wind farm comprises 16 wind turbines, whose construction was completed in February 2014. The wind turbines were produced by Siemens.

The project’s value is 55 million euro. German development bank KfW has lent 47.9 million euro towards the cost of the project, while the remaining 7.6 million euro came from ELEM’s own funds.
