Irena is looking to recruit a Deputy Director-General

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is looking to recruit a Deputy Director-General for the IRENA Secretariat.

IRENA is an inter-governmental organisation, mandated by governments to promote the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy. It supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future and serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, a centre of excellence, and a repository of policy, technology, resource and financial knowledge on renewable energy.

IRENA seeks to recruit a Deputy Director-General, who will report to the Director-General and be a leading member of senior management. He or she will support the Director-General in managing IRENA’s work programme and associated resources.

The Deputy Director-General will contribute to the formulation of IRENA’s overall strategies and policies, as well as lead and oversee the work carried out by programmatic divisions, ensuring its timely delivery in accordance with the strategic direction set out by the Director-General and in coordination with other entities as appropriate. The Deputy Director-General will take the lead in strengthening collaboration and integration with stakeholders, including the private sector, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, regional entities, institutes and academia, in order to enhance collaboration, cooperation, alliances and sustained partnerships to promote the accelerated uptake of renewables. He or she will provide substantive leadership on administrative and operational matters, including on coordination and collaboration between programmatic divisions and service areas.
