Wind energy: Fersa Panama signs from wind farm

Fersa Panama SA, a developer that’s minority-owned by the Spanish renewable-energy company Fersa Energias Renovables SA, completed a 15-year contract to sell power from its Toabre wind farm in Panama.

The company will start building the 102-megawatt project in the second half of the year and later expand it to 225 megawatts, Barcelona-based Fersa Energias said today in a statement.

The contract is the result of a energy auction this month. Naura Energy Corp. and Union Eolica Panamena SA also received contracts to sell power from wind farms in the same event, Panama’s national power distributor Empresa de Transmision Electrica SA said Jan. 16 in a statement.
