Sindh govt signs MoU for wind farm

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the government of Sindh and STFA Yatirim holding A-S, a Turkish company, for implementation of a wind power project in a simple but impressive ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House on Friday.

Sindh Secretary Energy Agha Wasif Abbas signed the document of MoU on behalf of the government of Sindh while STFA Yatirim holding A-S Project Development Director Mehmet Orhan Unalan signed on behalf of his company. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali shah, Adviser to CM for Finance Sayed Murad Ali Shah, Consul General Turkey at Karachi Murat-M Onart, Turkey-Pak Business Council Vice Chairman Riza Arsan and other diplomats and officers of Sindh government attended the ceremony.

According to the MoU, the company will conduct studies for setting up the wind masts at site identified by it for survey and the project company will identify site within two months where the project company will start survey of wind potential of the implements schedule for the wind power project.

After successful survey the company will set up wind power generation project of the size equal to maximum wind potential available at that site. The government of Sindh would facilitate to the project company in identifying acceptable sites for wind study and expropriate the requisite piece of land for the erection of wind masts and hand over the land for the site to the company as per government existing policy.
