Siemens opening wind turbine training facility in Orlando

A new state-of-the-art wind turbine training center is opening in Orlando.

Gov. Rick Scott and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer are attending Thursday’s opening of the facility operated by Siemens’ Energy.

The 40,000-square-foot facility has two 32-foot turbine towers that workers will use to practice safety and rescue operations.

Siemens officials say the goal of the training facility is to teach technicians how to provide maintenance to wind turbines as the wind energy industry expands in the United States.

Siemens’ other wind turbine training facilities are in England, Germany and Denmark.
