Wind energy in Egypt: 200 MW Wind Farm to Be Established in Suez Gulf

Minister of Electricity and Energy Ahmed Emam spoke about an agreement between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates to establish new ventures in the fields of electricity and renewable energy.

The Minister asserted that procedures will be taken within days to establish the first joint company between the two countries to produce new and renewable energy by conducting the technical and field feasibility studies of the location of the first Egyptian-UAE project for producing energy from wind farms in the Gulf of Suez on the Red Sea coast at the capacity of 200 megawatts.
Emam said the project’s cost hits some EGP 4 billion and will be paid by the New and Renewable Energy Authority and a UAE company.
