New wind farm in Japan

SoftBank Corp. renewable energy unit and Mitsui & Co., a Japanese trading company, will join Green Power Investment Corp. to build a 48-megawatt wind farm in western Japan.

Construction for the wind energy plant in Shimane prefecture will begin this month and operations are expected to start by March 2016, the three companies said in a statement today. No financial terms were disclosed.

This will be the first wind power project for SB Energy, which has been developing solar stations in Japan, according to the statement.

SB Energy has a 47.8 percent stake in Green Power, according to Kenichi Yuasa, a SoftBank spokesman. Mitsubishi Corp., and Development Bank of Japan Inc. are among other stakeholders, according to Green Power
