Wind energy projects of 1,300 MW capacity to be set up in Madhya Pradesh

Wind energy projects of 1,300 MW capacity will be set up in the state by December 2014, according to a press release here on Tuesday. One hundred MW power will be generated by biomass projects as well, according to State department New and Renewable Energy.

 

It said that apart from solar cookers, the Energy Development Corporation is also installing rooftop solar plants. Renewable energy shops, which were held at district-level till now, are being held at development block-level also.

 

At present, these shops are underway in 79 blocks. These will be set up in 100 blocks by March and remaining blocks by the next year. This year, 3,463 solar streetlight plants have been set up so far.

 

By the year-end, 5,000 solar streetlight plants and 3,700 solar home-light ‘model-2’ would be installed.

Solar City Project will be launched in 5 districts of the state including Jabalpur, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore and Ujjain.

 

Solar energy plants are also being set up at forest check-posts, police stations, Janpad Panchayat buildings etc. Details of the Energy Development Corporation’s activities were also given at the meeting.
