Nordex has been producing the N117/2400 turbine in series since mid-July. The turbine has already been sold out for this year, several turbines have already been installed in Germany. At the moment the North American 81.6 megawatt “Beebe” project is being installed in the district of Gratiot, Michigan, with 34 large N117/2400 turbines. One special feature of this turbine is the 58.5 metre rotor blade, for which carbon fibre is used. The Nordex partner SGL Rotec produces the rotor blades according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Furthermore, as of 2013, Nordex will also be producing these rotor blades itself in order to meet the strong demand for the N117/2400 as quickly as possible.
