Iberdrola has already requested permission to work in the expansion, which would be the third wind farm and would achieve the 551 MW, enough to supply 308,000 homes.

The Whitelee wind farm, located on the outskirts of Glasgow, was launched in 2009 with 140 wind turbines, which have been subsequently added another 75 wond turbines, as a result of two extensions that are installed but awaiting connection to the network .

The third expansion will add five new wind turbines in the western section of the wind power plant as well as three additional miles of tracks available to the public, which will involve the creation of over 30 jobs.

The Whitelee wind farm became operational with 140 wind turbines in 2009, which subsequently have joined 75 other wind turbines in two extensions.

The third expansion will add five new wind turbines in the western section of the wind farm. The project director of ScottishPower Renewables John Alexander justifies this extension because the Whitelee windfarm has excellent performance, with access to the electricity grid and close to densely populated areas like Glasgow.
