Wind farm in Chile plans expansion

Alba has filed an EIA with the Chilean government’s environmental evaluation service (SEA) to increase the generating capacity at the planned San Pedro wind farm on Chiloé Island in Chile.

The current $432 million wind farm will use 20, 1.8 MW wind turbines for a wind power capacity of 36 MW. The new plan calls for 48, 4.5 MW wind turbines with a capacity of 216 MW.

The original wind power project’s EIA was approved in July 2011 and the transmission part of the project was approved in December.
