Wind energy in Morocco: Siemens to supply 44 wind turbines for wind farm

Siemens and the company Nareva signed a contract by which the german firm will supply 44 wind turbines for wind farms Haour and Foum El Qued in Morocco.

The wind power contract, which marks the entry of Siemens in the African continent, including delivery, installation and commissioning of wind turbines, as well as the maintenance of each for a period of five years.

Each wind farm will have 22 wind turbines and 50 megawatts of wind power and is expected to begin operation by summer 2013. Siemens has said that Africa is a wind energy market "emerging" in which Morocco is currently the number two in wind farm facilities.
