Pepco said it has signed a 20-year PPA with the owner of the wind farm as part of its renewable energy portfolio for meeting Delaware’s clean energy goals, which require Delmarva Power to supply 25 percent of its energy from clean sources by 2025.
The wind power project features 19 wind turbines, manufactured by Gamesa, each having two megawatts of rated capacity.
Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:POM) announced its subsidiary Delmarva Power will receive 38 megawatts (MW) of wind energy and associated renewable energy credits from the recently completed Chestnut Flats wind power facility in south central Pennsylvania.
The 38-megawatt land-based wind farm is owned by enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company. Delmarva Power’s Delaware Customers to Benefit from Chestnut Flats, Pennsylvania Wind Farm.
Delmarva Power signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement in 2008 for land-based wind power as part of its renewable energy portfolio for meeting Delaware’s clean energy goals, which require 25 percent of the company’s energy supply to come from clean sources by 2025. The 38-megawatt Chestnut Flats wind farm is located in Logan Township, Blair County, northwest of Altoona, Pa. The project features 19 wind turbines, manufactured by Gamesa, each having two megawatts of rated capacity.

"This is another example of working regionally to make a difference in delivering clean, green energy. We support renewable standards, and we recognize it takes a long-term plan to achieve these ambitious goals."
Delmarva Power will purchase 100 percent of Chestnut Flats’ output.
