Wind energy sets a new record in Spain, with 59.6% of the production

The wind power sets a new record, with 59.6% of the production. Spanish Electricity Network (REE) has announced that in the early hours of Sunday broke the record for wind energy contribution to the electricity grid, which contributed almost 60% of the total supply at that time demanded by the Spanish energy system.

During his participation in the VII Conference Smart grids: towards a new energy model, Atienza has said that on Sunday 2.00 hours was achieved a "historic challenge" of wind farm contribution to the demand, with 59.6%.

With that figure surpasses the previous record was a contribution close to 54%. This shows that most of the electricity consumed at that time was produced by wind energy.
