PSA Velv Electric Vehicles

After the Germans guided by Volkswagen are constantly launching new version of the up! urban vehicle by the day, the French at PSA (Peugeot Citroen Alliance) couldn’t stay behind and saw the opportunity to battle with the advanced competition by launching their own version of an urban vehicle named the Velv.

“PSA Peugeot Citroen is presenting an innovative concept for getting around in the city at a forum organized by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME). Known by its French acronym VELV, the light city electric vehicle has been developed with a consortium of French companies and a research laboratory who have joined forces to meet the mobility challenges of tomorrow”, as an official PSA statement reads.

The new creation of PSA is coming for now in the shape of a concept car and the French are saying that it’s a fully functional electric vehicle that has an 8.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 27 horsepower electric motor, which enables the light car (650 kg or 1.433 lb) to accelerate up to a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph) and offering it a range of around 100 km or 62 miles on a single charge.

PSA didn’t officially announced if the Velv concept will hit the production line but this is most likely to happen because the French are saying that the vehicle is aimed at corporate fleets, second-car buyers, traditional rental companies and numerous customers who want a better option for getting around town.
