Wind energy in China – Order for 21 wind turbines for Jiangsu

Order for 21 wind turbines for Jiangsu- Siemens has received an order for 21 wind turbines with an output of 2.3 MW and a rotor diameter of 101 metres each for an offshore wind farm in Rudong County, Jiangsu, China.

Commercial operation is expected in late 2011 and the wind power supply includes a fi ve year service and maintenance agreement. According to the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association, China will expand its offshore wind power installed capacity to 5 GW by 2015 and 30 GW by 2020.

China is currently the world’s largest wind power market today with almost 45 GW installed and a growth rate of 73% from 2009 to 2010.
