Acciona planning a 144 MW Australia wind energy plant

Acciona has lodged plans to develop a 144 MW South Australia wind power plant with Australia’s government. The 48 wind turbines in Exmoor wind farm would be located about 15km north of Naracoorte in the southeast region of the state, the Spanish wind energy developer said.

Acciona says it anticipates the development application could be submitted as early as the end of 2012, with development consent being granted as early as 2013.

The Spanish developer in July opened the $148m, 46.5 MW Gunning wind farm in New South Wales, the company’s third in Australia.

“The development of the proposed wind farm supports the federal government’s expanded renewable energy target of an additional 45,000 GWh of energy to be generated by renewable energy sources by 2020, equating to 20% of the nations projected demand,” Acciona says.
