Vestas wins a 50 MW wind energy order in China

Vestas, the global leader in wind energy, has received an order of 50 MW from Hebei Construction Investment New Energy Company (HCINEC). This order consists of 25 units of the V90-2.0 MW wind turbine, and will be installed at Daqinghe Yanchang wind farm in Laoting County, Hebei province, China.

HCINEC and Vestas initiated the collaboration in 2008 through its subsidiary Chongli Construction Investment Co., Ltd., which just before the New Year placed an order of 49.3 MW consisting of 58 units of Vestas’ reliable kW platform. Vestas wind turbines have won this customer’s appreciation with its outstanding level of reliability and productivity. This new order is the third time these two companies collaborate, and the order brings the total accumulated wind energy capacity signed between the parties to approximately 150 MW.

Jens Tommerup, President of Vestas China says, “Customer focus starts with delivering quality. We firmly believe that in order to win the recognition and trust of customers, we must deliver high quality products, support them with experienced technical personnel and develop tailor-made solutions. We aim to assist our customers with effective risk management and continuously deliver a low and predictable cost of energy and eventually increase their return on investments.”

The contract includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution as well as a service and maintenance agreement. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of 2011.

In 2010 alone, Vestas sold more than 230 units of the V90-1.8/2.0 MW wind turbine to the Chinese market, which is again one record-breaking number for Vestas in China.
