"As an organization that serves customers across the globe, our workforce is extremely mobile. They need reliable, secure access to corporate networks, applications and communication channels," said Markku Rytkonen, Director of IT Services for Moventas. "Our new strong enterprise authentication strategy is based on flexibility, cost-effectiveness and reliability — factors that are important to our workforce and allow us to better serve our customers."
Moventas, Finland’s largest wind power player, displaced their hardware tokens for the Entrust IdentityGuard solution and the proven, easy-to-use grid card authenticator. The grid cards are simple, effective, easy to manage and quick to deploy or replace.
"Proactive organizations recognize the benefits of a strong, proven enterprise authentication solution — a trend that grows on a global scale," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "Moventas is already a step further, understanding that it’s not enough to simply deploy enterprise security, but to do so via cost-effective methods that help in benefitting the company, employees and customers."
The relationship, facilitated through the Salcom Group, an authorized reseller of Entrust products, and Demidoo, a service provider for strong authentication and remote access, was made possible by Entrust’s global reputation and strong local support. Moventas found additional value in the versatility of the strong authentication solution, which has the flexibility to be scalable should the company’s security goals shift or evolve. Moventas’ previous deployment was expensive and difficult to manage, particularly for securing employees spread across various continents.
The Entrust-patented grid card is a credit card-sized authenticator consisting of numbers and characters in a row-column format. Upon login, users are presented with a coordinate challenge and must respond with the information in the corresponding cells from the unique grid card they possess. The authenticator is equally effective in consumer or enterprise environments.
Entrust IdentityGuard enables organizations to layer security — according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction — across diverse users and applications. The platform’s authentication options include username and password, IP-geolocation, device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid cards (physical or eGrid) cards, digital certificates and a range of one-time-passcode tokens.
Moventas is one of the largest wind energy manufacturers of wind turbine gears in the world. The company has more than 1,300 employees in eight countries globally with a worldwide partner network.
