Alcampo launches photovoltaic covers in two hypermarkets in Seville and Barcelona

Alcampo and the photovoltaic promoter and operator Helexia have launched two photovoltaic covers for self-consumption in the hypermarkets of Seville-Tamarguillo and the Barcelona town of Sant Boi de Llobregat. These facilities are added to the two already existing in Aranda de Duero and Teruel, with which both parties launched their alliance in 2023 to develop nine projects in Spain with a capacity of 13 GW. This initiative is part of Alcampo’s decarbonization strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2043, within the framework of direct emissions.

The Sant Boi de Llobregat photovoltaic installation is made up of almost 2,000 photovoltaic panels and has 1,078 kWp of power, which will allow it to produce more than 1,463 MWh annually and avoid 200 tCO2eq in the same period. For its part, the Sevillian hypercar has more than a thousand photovoltaic panels and a power of 554.4 kWp, which can produce more than 845 MWh per year and avoid 115 tCO2eq during that period.

The alliance of Alcampo and Helexia is part of a global agreement signed in 2021 by their respective parent companies, Auchan and Voltalia, so that the distribution chain reduces the consumption of conventional energy and supplies itself with green energy.
