Naturgy begins its second photovoltaic in the United States

The Grimes project, with an investment of more than 285 million euros, will have a power of 210 MW that will supply renewable energy to more than 140,000 homes in the State of Texas.

Naturgy continues to grow in the US with the start of construction of the Grimes project, its second large photovoltaic installation in the country. This new renewable generation plant, located in the State of Texas, will have a power of 210 MW capable of generating enough emissions-free electricity to supply approximately 140,000 homes.

This project will entail an investment of more than 285 million euros and will have a significant impact on the economic activity of the area with the creation of an average of 200 jobs during the execution of the works, which will reach peaks of around 500 workers. at times of greatest activity. The facility will have 515,000 photovoltaic modules spread over an area of 649 hectares. Its start-up is scheduled for 2025.

Grimes joins 7V Solar Ranch, the first renewable energy project promoted by Naturgy in the United States. This facility has recently begun its activity with the first energy discharge, becoming the group’s largest active photovoltaic installation in the world.

7V Solar Ranch has a power of 240 MW and an annual generation capacity of 560 GWh, equivalent to the consumption of 160,000 homes. The facility is made up of more than 555,500 modules spread over 800 hectares of land and has involved an investment of more than 380 million euros.

Naturgy in the US

Naturgy is currently working on the development of a portfolio of more than 30 projects based on solar technology with a capacity of more than 6 GW in the United States, a strategic market for the Group.

This country offers a growing energy demand, technological innovation and supply capacity to assist the deployment of renewable energies and fiscal incentives necessary to achieve the objective set by the Biden Administration, where 80% of the electricity generated will have to be of origin renewable in 2030 and five years later all generation must be fossil fuel-free.

With the start of construction of Grimes, the company continues its strategy of developing an international renewable portfolio, focusing on stable geographies and projects in the early development phase. Outside Spain, Naturgy has more than 3,000 MW of renewable power in operation.

Currently, Naturgy has more than 5.7 GW of renewable power in operation. The company increased its installed renewable capacity by more than 730 MW and expects to put more than 1.5 additional GW into operation by the end of 2024.
