Vestas wins an order for 55 MW of wind power in Japan

Vestas has won a 55 MW order with RENOVA, Inc. for the Reihoku Amakusa onshore wind farm in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Vestas will supply 13 Vestas V117-4.2 MW wind turbines to the project. The wind turbines will be installed with a tall tower solution with hub heights of 112 meters to unlock new wind resources at higher and more consistent wind speeds.

The order also includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimized wind farm performance.

“We are delighted to once again partner with RENOVA. This will be our first collaboration in Japan, building on the success of our previous three projects in Vietnam.” said Purvin Patel, president of Vestas Asia Pacific. “We remain committed to contributing to Japan’s goal of carbon neutrality, through our industry-leading wind power solutions and strong partnership with our customers.”

Delivery of the turbines will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, with commissioning scheduled to be completed in 2026.
