James Fisher Subsea Excavation supporting client with multiple cable repairs at offshore wind farms

Subsea excavation experts James Fisher Subsea Excavation (JFSE), part of James Fisher and Sons plc, is providing equipment and personnel to VBMS – specialists in subsea power cable installation and balance of plant maintenance in the renewables industry – for several concurrent projects.

The company’s Twin R2000 spread, coupled with its patented water jetting system, is supporting offshore wind farm cable repairs and maintenance at locations throughout Europe as part of the significant project award.

JFSE’s Twin R2000, which utilises two controllable columns of water, is ideal for non-contact excavation in shallow water. Excavating at a velocity of up to 10m per second, in depths starting from 1.5m, the tool produces up to 4m3 of water per second.

Kenneth Mackie, managing director at JFSE, said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting VBMS. These concurrent projects are a significant award and we are confident our equipment and personnel will once again prove to be the industry leaders in providing mass/controlled flow excavation services – making a real difference to the success of our client’s challenging projects.”

JFSE has significant experience in the offshore wind farm sector, having successfully delivered excavation services on more than 50 similar projects.
