Third call-off from frame contract for Nordex in Finland

Nordex’ customer steps up the pace in Finland. The Finnish asset management company Taaleri, formerly named Taaleritehdas, has now called down the third and so far largest project from the recent frame contract with Nordex, which is financed from the fund Taaleritehtan tuulitehdas II. The manufacturer will be installing 13 N131/3000 turbines for the “Kivivaara” wind farm.  Nordex will be delivering the turbines in the late summer of this year and guarantees full service on the basis of a 15-year Premium Service contract.

“Kivivaara” is located in the north-east of Finland. The region is known for its forest-covered hills and large quantities of snow and ice. Its wind speeds offer good conditions for the N131/3000. Nordex will be supplying all turbines in the 39 MW project with the anti-icing system to prevent ice formation on the rotor blades and thus reduce turbine outages. In permafrost conditions the system can increase yields by up to 25 percent. One of the advantages here is the low energy consumption by the anti-icing system.

Including the third call-off, Taaleri has already ordered 30 turbines with a total of 90 MW from the 216 MW frame contract. The remaining three projects agreed are planned for installation by the end of 2017 at the latest.

As one of the technological leaders in multi-megawatt wind power systems, Nordex is benefiting from the trend in favour of large-scale turbines. The Generation Gamma range comprises the N90/2500, N100/2500 and the N117/2400, which is one of the most efficient series turbines for non-coastal regions. To date, over 3,600 of these turbines have been produced. With Generation Delta, Nordex is now offering the fourth generation of its proven multi-megawatt platform (N100/3300, N117/3000, N131/3000 as well as the N131/3000 for the German market). Nordex has installed around 7,000 turbines with an aggregate capacity of over 12,000 MW all around the world. With exports accounting for around 70 percent of its business, Nordex SE also plays a key role in international high-growth regions. The Company has offices and subsidiaries in more than 20 countries around the world The Group currently has more than 3,000 employees around the world.
