Wind power: Senvion already installed 6,000 wind turbines

Senvion opens wind power R&D Centre in India

Senvion is scaling up its Research & Development (R&D) capacities and will open its new R&D Centre in Bangalore, India, in September 2015. The team in India will strengthen the global TechCenter in Osterrönfeld, Germany, in further developing wind turbines in order to continue  its international growth path. Senvion will both increase the staff in the R&D headquarters in Osterrönfeld and establish the new Centre in India.

Andreas Nauen, CEO at Senvion, said: “We have been preparing this step for months now – and are happy to ramp up our tech expertise to complement the engineering excellence in Germany. The German technology of Senvion, located primarily in Osterrönfeld, will further improve thanks to the recruitment of many excellent engineers.” Senvion is serving 26 markets to date, all with specific wind conditions, climates and grid requirements. The expansion of the Product Development division is therefore a necessary step when preparing to enter new markets and offering the highest quality of wind turbines with the best efficiency possible for every location.

Senvion has been steadily investing in the adaptation and modification of existing products as well as in the development of new products to ensure it has the strongest possible product portfolio for each market. “In Germany, we have hired the best wind engineers who are now responsible for our high-quality products. In order to maintain the extremely high level of expertise when expanding the team, we look into countries with excellent engineering capabilities in wind energy,” adds Bernhard Telgmann, Executive Vice President Product & Technology at Senvion.

The TechCenter in Osterrönfeld was established in 2010 as a follow-up institution of the founder company pro + pro Energiesysteme GmbH & Co KG based in Osterrönfeld. It comprises the experience of over 25 years of onshore and offshore engineering and will remain the heart of Senvion R&D.
