Nordex secures 46MW wind energy order in Lithuania

Following a successful market entry in September, Nordex has now received a further contract from Lithuania.

This is for the “Mazeikiai” wind power project located in the north west of the country close to the town of the same name.

Nordex will be supplying and installing a total of 19 N117/2400 wind turbines. Also included is a premium service contract covering a minimum period of 15 years.

Work on installing the wind turbines, which will be mounted on 120-metre towers, is to commence in spring 2015. In this way, Nordex will be able to ensure that its customer can obtain maximum yields from the light local wind conditions. The wind farm will have an above-average capacity factor of a good 37 percent. Nordex has made a name for itself and gained market share in this segment in particular through the use of large rotors and high towers.

The customer is UAB “Pamario jegainiu energija”, a company owned by Lithuanian based Orion Alternative Energy Fund and Dutch based Energy Investment Fund.

“This second sales success within a short space of time impressively testifies to the vitality of the Lithuanian market. Working with our customers, we want to help the country to diversify its energy production base by expanding local wind power production,” says Nordex Management Board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard. The wind farm will be supplying up to 75,000 households in the region with clean electricity.

As one of the technological leaders in multi-megawatt wind power systems, Nordex is benefiting from the trend in favour of large-scale turbines. The Generation Gamma range comprises the N90/2500, N100/2500 and the N117/2400, which is one of the most efficient series turbines for non-coastal regions. To date, over 2,600 of these turbines have been produced. With Generation Delta, Nordex is now offering the fourth generation of its proven multi-megawatt platform (N100/3300, N117/3000, N131/3000). Nordex has installed more than 6,000 turbines with an aggregate capacity of over 10,000 MW all around the world. With exports accounting for around 70 percent of its business, Nordex SE also plays a key role in international high-growth regions. The Company has offices and subsidiaries in 22 countries around the world with a total global headcount of over 2,700 employees.
