Brazil’s Eletrosul begins 181 MW wind farm

Rio Grande do Sul have authorized federal company Eletrosul to start construction of the 181 MW Hermenegildo wind power complex.

 

Estimated total investment in the 13 wind energy projects is R$900m (US$362m). They should enter commercial operation by 1 January 2016 since Electrosul contracted the power at last year’s A-3 auction.

General Electric will supply all 101 1.7-100 wind turbines with nominal 1.79MW capacity. It expects GE to deliver the first 21 wind turbines this quarter. GE will also operate and maintain the wind farm.

Hermenegildo is part of he larger Campos Neutrais wind power complex which also includes 258MW Geribatu and the 144MW Chui complexes. Total investments in Campos Neutrais is estimated at R$2.7bn.
