Acciona Windpower is awarded a 57 MW wind energy contract in Turkey

The company will supply ZT Enerji with nineteen AW 125/3000 wind turbines (3 MW each) for the Çerçikaya wind farm, and will undertake the operation and maintenance of the installation for 10 years.

It is ACCIONA Windpower’s first contract in Turkey, taking the number of countries with AW wind turbines installed – or with firm orders – to 18.

ACCIONA Windpower, a subsidiary of the ACCIONA Group dedicated to the design, manufacture and sale of wind turbines, has been awarded the supply and assembly of the 57 MW Çerçikaya wind farm in Turkey, owned by the company ZT Enerji Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.?. (Zafer Group). The contract includes the operation and maintenance of the installation for 10 years.

The wind farm, located in Hatay province in the south of the country, will be equipped with nineteen AW125/3000 turbines. These machines have a rotor diameter of 125 meters (the biggest sweep designed by ACCIONA Windpower) and will be mounted on 87.5-meter-high steel towers. This wind turbine is specially designed for sites with low wind speeds.

Supplies will be made in 2014 and 2015, and the entry into service of the wind farm is planned for the end of February 2015.

It is the first contract awarded to ACCIONA Windpower in Turkey, and will enable the company to increase the number of countries to which it supplies AW turbines to 18 (either in operation or in the form of firm orders).

The CEO of Zafer Group, Mr. Mehmet Necati Ya?c?, states: “This is our second wind project in Hatay district, Turkey. As it is the first contract awarded to ACCIONA Windpower in the country, we believe that this project is crucial for both parties. We are delighted to be working together and we believe that the combined experience of ACCIONA and Zafer Group provides a solid basis for this project”.

“We are very pleased to have signed our first supply agreement in Turkey, a wind power market that will grow in the next few years, with a prestigious customer like the Zafer Group”, said José Luis Blanco general director ACCIONA Windpower. “We believe that this agreement could be a reference point for future contracts in the country.”

The order confirms the excellent reputation that ACCIONA Windpower’s 3 MW turbines are consolidating in the market. In 2013 alone the company has signed supply contracts for around 1,200 MW of capacity for this wind turbine, quadrupling the total accumulated number of orders up to the end of 2012.
