Wind energy in Georgia

The wind farms will be built in Georgia, candidate for the post of Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said in the parliament on Tuesday.

According to him, the work on the wind power project has already begun. The implementation and construction will begin in the coming months.

According to Kaladze, a tower, equipped with special devices that provide accurate data on the strength of the wind, has been installed.

“This will be the first project of 20 MW wind power stations. But there is a prospect and a possibility of building another 150 MW wind power station.”

“Unfortunately, Georgia is dependent on foreign energy sources, especially from Azerbaijan and Russia by 75 percent, but we have a real opportunity and resources to become energy independent in the near future and these resources will be used,” Kaladze added.
