Acciona Microenerg

ACCIONA Microenergía México presented its Light at Home Oaxaca Programme at Green Solutions 2013, a technology exhibit focussing on mitigating climate change.

On 25 and 26 October, Morelos, Mexico, played host to the fourth Green Solutions event. Green Solutions is a space for exhibits and dialogue between the public sector and the private sector, an opportunity for presenting business initiatives in commerce, investment and technology, the fight against climate change and the transition to a low-carbon world economy. Green Solutions 2013 revolved around sustainable development.

ACCIONA Microenergía México (AMM), the government of the State of Oaxaca, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation all attended this event. AMM participated as an exhibitor with its own stand.

The big news from AMM was its Light at Home Oaxaca Programme, which seeks to make access to electricity universal by 2016 for the inhabitants of Oaxaca. Oaxaca numbers among the Mexican states that most need access to basic services; it has approximately 800 remote, underserviced towns and hamlets for which there are no plans to supply conventional electricity any time soon. AMM, however, is arranging to provide about 9,500 Oaxacan households with small home photovoltaic systems over the next three years.
