Cener will present its experience in validation and durability tests on drivetrains in Germany

The fourth International Conference on Drivetrain Concepts for Wind Turbines will be held in Bremen starting on Monday, 14 October and ending on Wednesday, 16 October.  The main technology centres and enterprises, from all over the world, engaged in testing, manufacturing and designing drivetrains will meet at this annual event.

The presentation that Pablo Ayesa, Director of CENER’s Wind Energy department, will offer, is entitled “operational experience in the execution of tests on drivetrain benches”, placing emphasis on three aspects: integrated test infrastructures for multimegawatt wind turbines, durability tests, and also new tendencies related to test procedures and tools. CENER has had the Wind Turbine Test Laboratory since 2006, where it operates a high-power drivetrain test bench that is considered to be one of the mostly highly experienced in the world. Apart from the conference, CENER will have its own stand where it will show the different test possibilities that it has.

By participating in this forum CENER’s main objectives are, on the one hand, to increase its collaboration network to drive technological development in validation and reliability of the powertrain and, on the other hand, to establish new strategic relations with leading companies in the international wind sector.

The National Renewable Energy Centre is a highly rated technology centre, with international prestige.  It is specialised in applied research and the development and promotion of renewable energies. CENER has more than 200 researchers, carrying out activities on the five continents. The Board of Trustees is comprised of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, the Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT), the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and the Government of Navarra. CENER performs its activity in six work areas (wind, solar thermal and solar photovoltaic, biomass, building energy and renewable energy grid integration), participating as a technical specialist in Technical Committees at home and abroad.
