Enel Green Power CEO Francesco Starace spoke at the Cleantech Focus Italy. Innovation is “essential to achieve the sustainable development of the energy industry and of renewables”.
Creating a network of businesses and research centres and exporting the “made in Italy” renewable and cleantech innovations. This is the objective of the Cleantech Focus, an event promoted by the Cleantech Group jointly with the Italian Ministry of the Environment, which on January 28 and 29 reunited in Rome representatives of this sector’s international community and participants from large, medium and small companies, as well as investors..
Cleantech Focus, which focussed on the state-of the-art of clean technology in Italy, aims at promoting Italy within the international network for the development of cleantech, making the most of the potential offered by the excellent practices achieved in Italy.
The participants included the Minister of the Environment Corrado Clini, who was the first speaker, and Enel Green Power CEO Francesco Starace.
Starace pointed out that “innovation is essential to achieve sustainable development in the energy industry and therefore also in the field of renewables. Enel Green Power has a team working on innovation under every aspect, from technologies to procedures, working cross-wise in analysing needs and defining and developing the most appropriate solutions”. And he added: “Counting on the long-standing expertise of the Enel Group’s Research and Development and on the efforts made in the field of innovation by all the companies within the Group, we periodically cooperate with the academic and the industrial sectors. In this regard, we view the Cleantech network as a valuable opportunity”.
Enel is committed to the development of clean technologies both in Italy and in the various countries in which it operates. This activity, mostly brought forth by the Group’s renewable company Enel Green Power, is also being developed through the continuous efforts in innovation made at Enel’s Research centres and by promoting initiatives and projects involving all the activities of the Group. The company not only develops cleantech solutions at its plants and as part of its daily activity, but also plays a central role within initiatives that promote and support zero-emission technologies, in terms of culture and business. An example is Enel Lab, the business laboratory created by Enel, which promotes innovative cleantech projects and is addressed to Italian and Spanish start-ups.
