Wyboston Lakes is switching on for electric vehicles

Wyboston Lakes have just installed electric vehicle recharging points at their Hotel and Spa near St Neots which will be available to all visitors to the site. These are the first vehicle recharging points in the St Neots area, and an integral part of the Source East Electric Vehicle Recharging Network which will extend throughout the East of England. Wyboston Lakes is the first conference venue in the region, and probably the first in the UK to install electric recharging points for their customers. At the launch last Friday a number of staff and customers tried out a range of electric powered vehicles, which included bicycles, cars, and vans.

These new recharging points are not only available to people based at the Wyboston Lakes commercial offices, but also to members of the public visiting the various facilities on site ie. Restaurants, Hotel, Conference Centres, Golf course and Health Club. The recharging point has both 3 pin, 8 watt and 7 pin, 16 watt supplies so are suitable for recharging all electric vehicles from electric bikes and scooters to cars and vans.

With the next generation of electric vehicles on the horizon these recharging points ensure that Wyboston Lakes continues to embrace innovation for the benefit of everybody who works at or visits the Centre. There are already 2 members of staff who live locally and travel to work on electric bikes, so Wyboston Lakes hope that these recharging points will encourage people to adopt electric vehicles as a more economic and environmentally friendly mode of transport.

Brian Payton, director of business development for Wyboston Lakes commented: “We have 38 highly innovative companies employing nearly 400 staff based in the Wyboston Lakes serviced offices. Over a quarter of a million people visit Wyboston Lakes each year so free access to these recharging points makes changing to electric transport a viable option and contribute to reducing our long term oil dependency and carbon footprint.”
