Bulgarian Wind Energy Association Launches Lawsuit against State Regulator

The Bulgarian Wind Energy Association (BGWEA) has taken legal actions against the “unfairly motivated decision of the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission to cut the preferential prices for buying up electricity from wind turbines with 22% starting July 1”, an official press release from BWEA said today.

According to the Association in the last year the Bulgarian renewables market has seen some disturbing developments, namely the legal framework changing too frequently, leading to more and more restrictive measures which deter the investors.

BGWEA stated that renewables have been used for nothing more than an excuse for soaring energy prices, while the unbalanced state policy would be the real cause of uncontrolled repartition of the energy mix.
