NY spends $4.4M to fund 325 stations for electric vehicles

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the money will go to 10 businesses, municipalities and agencies to help bring 325 new charging stations online. Promoters of electric vehicles say they run cleaner than gas-powered cars and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Among the recipients are the City of Rochester, the owners of Price Chopper Supermarkets and the New York Power Authority. The charging stations are supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Energy.
