Wind energy in UK: Nordex awarded new wind farm contracts for 55 MW

Nordex’s new wind power business is continuing to grow. Thus, the wind power manufacturer has now received five new wind turbines contracts in the important UK market. Since the beginning of the year, the Infinis Group has ordered a total of 22 N90/2500 and N80/2500 strong-wind turbines for various wind farms. Nordex had already booked eleven of the turbines as a firm order intake in the 1st quarter of 2012, with orders for a further eleven received in May.

In Scotland, five N80/2500 wind turbines will be installed at the “Gordonstown Hill” wind farm and five N90/2500 wind turbines at the “Westfield” wind farm. A further twelve 2.5 MW machines will be installed in England at the “Wingates”, “Blackstone Edge” and “Tedder Hill” wind farms. Construction work is to commence this year, with all 22 turbines to start feeding clean electricity into the grid by March 2013 at the latest.

Infinis is already operating twelve N90/2500 wind turbines at the “Lissett Airfield” wind farm, which Nordex installed in 2008. Nordex will be exceeding the 1 GW limit for installed capacity in the United Kingdom and Ireland this year, thus underscoring its strong position in this core market.

“We are delighted to have secured these further projects with Infinis and look forward to building out the five project portfolio with one of the UK’s largest independent renewable energy generators” says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, member of Nordex SE’s Management Board responsible for sales, service and project management.
