Wind energy in India: new wind farm in Gujarat with Suzlon wind turbines

Suzlon Group has signed a Rs 305.32 crore contract for a 50 MW wind power project with Gujarat Mineral Development Corp (GMDC), the company said in a statement.

The project that comprises 24 units wind turbines would be set up at Jamnagar in Gujarat, it said.

"Suzlon is pleased to once again partner with GMDC in driving forward their commitment to sustainable energy, and through this contribute to the development of Gujarat’s low carbon economy," said Tulsi Tanti, Chairman of Suzlon Group.

He said Gujarat has immense wind potential and the company is contributing in harnessing it.

GMDC has an installed base of 100.50 MW, of which the major part – over 60 MW – has been supplied by Suzlon and is operating in sites across Gujarat. The new order takes GMDC?s total installed capacity to 150.50 MW.
