Missouri wind farm terminated

Kansas-based TradeWind Energy of Lenexa, Kan. is terminating its Shuteye Creek Wind Power Project slated for Adair, Putnam and Sullivan counties.

In 2005, TradeWind began developing the Shuteye Creek Wind Power Project in anticipation of an emerging Missouri wind energy market.

“Unfortunately it has become increasingly evident that the wind energy market in Missouri will simply not develop in the foreseeable future. Given the lack of interest in wind energy in the state TradeWind has made the difficult decision to significantly reduce its presence in the state of Missouri and to more heavily focus its resources in other states where there is a clear commitment to development of this great energy resource,” Freeman was quoted as saying in the article.

Since 2008, Tradewind Energy has developed over 800 MW of wind energy in Midwestern states totaling approximately $1.3 billion in capital investment.
