First wind energy order for the Nordex N90/2500 wind turbines in China

Wind power manufacturer Nordex has received its first commercial order for the N90/2500 from China after commencing the marketing of its multi-megawatt series in the Far East as recently as autumn 2011. Since then, Nordex has been preparing its Chinese wind farm plants for the production of the 2.5 MW wind power platform.

The customer is power station operator Zhongmin Wind Power, a subsidiary of the Fujian Investment Group. The state-owned company develops and operates various infrastructure projects and plans to be installing around 1,000 MW of new wind farm capacity over the next five years.

Located close to the coast near Zhongcuo where mean wind speeds of 8.4 m/s prevail, the 30 MW wind farm will be comprising N90/2500 turbines. The park is to be completed by the end of 2012.

China was the world’s largest wind energy market in 2011, accounting for around 40% of international new installations. These turbines had an average capacity of around 1.5 MW. “With our new range for Asia, we are entering a segment which is attracting strong demand in China and is not yet being addressed by all of our peers,” says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, Chief Customer Officer at Nordex SE.
