EnXco signs agreement to monitor wind farm in Canada

enXco inks wind farm agreement with Cartier Wind Energy. Consisting of 73 GE 1.5-MW SLE wind turbines, the wind power project was commissioned in November 2006 and generates clean energy for about 21,000 homes.

enXco Service Canada Inc., an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, signed an agreement with Cartier Wind Energy Inc. to provide remote monitoring services for the 109.5 MW Baie-des-Sables Wind Farm located in Baie-des-Sables, Quebec. Consisting of 73 GE 1.5-MW SLE wind turbines, the wind power project was commissioned in November 2006 and generates clean energy for about 21,000 homes. enXco’s operations control center will allow Cartier to have permanent monitoring of the Baie-des-Sables site and perform remote resets or dispatch Cartier’s wind technicians as required.

enXco’s OCC provides remote monitoring services to 46 wind projects representing 2,798 wind turbines and five solar projects for a total of 4,675 MW under contract. enXco Service Canada Inc., and its American affiliate provides O&M services to more than 5,000 wind turbines throughout North America, representing 5,200 MW of wind energy.

Established in 2004, Cartier Wind Energy Inc. is a partnership TransCanada and Innergex Renewable Energy. Cartier Wind Energy began development in the early 2000s after initial measurements in the Gaspésie and in February 2005, Cartier Wind Energy signed long-term electrical power purchase agreements with Hydro-Québec Distribution for a total of 739.5 Megawatts (MW) for wind energy projects in the Gaspésie, Îles-de-la-Madeleine and the Regional County Municipality of Matane.
