Florida’s First Wind Farm

Currently, Wind Capital Group is developing utility-scale wind farm projects all across the central U.S. and has offices in St. Louis, Missouri; St. Augustine, Florida; and Chicago, Illinois.

Combining community relationships with experience and vision, Wind Capital Group has developed wind farms – currently operating or under construction – producing nearly 1,000 MW of economically viable, clean, renewable electricity.

Wind Capital Group’s current wind power projects have the potential to produce enough wind energy to power more than 300,000 homes, offsetting more than 1.6 million tons of carbon each year.

The Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners has voted unanimously in support of the development of Wind Capital Group’s Sugarland Wind Energy Project, which is planned for Palm Beach County.

With the board of commissioners’ review and approval – which was based on the planning guidelines of the Palm Beach County local land-use ordinance – Wind Capital Group can now move forward with the development of Florida’s first utility-scale wind energy facility.

The 200 MW Sugarland Wind Power Project will be developed on private land located approximately seven miles east of Belle Glade. Construction is expected to begin late this year.

“With its vote today in support of the Sugarland Wind Energy Project, the board of commissioners has taken the first step in delivering to the residents of Palm Beach County the promise of a clean energy economy and job opportunities in an area of high unemployment,” says Robin Saiz, project manager. “The commissioners also showed that Palm Beach County is ready to lead on matters of environmental protection, and we would like to thank them for their support."
