Geothermal energy in Chile

Renewable energy firm GGE Chile submitted an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for a $330 million geothermal energy project planned for its San Gregorio concession in southern Chile.

Plans call for the development of 10 geothermal drilling platforms, consisting of 14 production wells and 11 reinjection wells. The project is expected to break ground in mid-2013 and come online in early 2016.
